Stratfor: Romanian PM likely to start conflict with president, justice
Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta is likely to enter a conflict with the country’s president Klaus Iohannis and the local justice, and be subject to pressure from Romania’s foreign allies, according to American publisher Stratfor.
Government stability will be affected, regardless of Ponta staying or leaving office. President Klaus Iohannis asked Ponta to resign, and the opposition wants to remove the current Government.
“The conflict between Ponta’s supporter and critics can weaken the ability of the current legislature to adopt reforms,” according to Stratfor, cited by local Mediafax.
The PM survived a no-confidence motion last week, as well as a vote to lift his immunity in a corruption investigation.
