Study: Health and children's future, among worries for Romanians, most are depressed and have weight problems

People in Bucharest are concerned first about their health, then by their children's future and by the level of their income, according to a study carried out by the Bucharest municipality. Health is a worry for a quarter of those interviewed, while the future of their children, for 22 percent. Another 13 percent are worried about their income.

When it comes to health, over 30 percent of Bucharest inhabitants have often or almost monthly used drugs, while 31 percent just often – once every three months, 20 percent rarely used drugs – once in six months, and 12 percent rarely or not at all.

The same survey showed that around 40 percent of the respondents had felt sad and depressed in the last 12 months, while half of the surveyed said they have problems with their weight.

Around one third of the respondents said they believe doctors would not help them if they did not give them small gifts or money, and 22 percent of them usually offer doctors small gifts to be treated better, while 18 percent give gifts because doctors are poorly paid. Only 20 percent of them said they never gave a gift to a doctor.

The survey questioned 906 people between May and June 2013, and has an error margin of plus/minus 3.3 percent.
