Study: Most Romanian adults want material goods for Christmas, 18% would like Santa to bring them money
Most Romanian adults, namely 74%, want to receive material goods for Christmas, such as phones, tablets, TV sets and clothes, only 2 out of 10 wishing for spiritual things such as health or happiness, according to a recent survey conducted by iSense.Solutions.
“Surprisingly or not, the iSense.Solutions survey shows that a large part of Romanians are pragmatic when it comes to Christmas gifts. Thus, 18% say they want to receive money for Christmas,” said Traian Nastase, managing partner iSense.Solutions.
Money represent the most desired gift for people aged between 35 and 44 (24%) and 45-54 (23%). Money are followed by mobile phones – 7% of Romanians would like to receive this as a Christmas gift, tablets – 4.2%, TV sets – 4% and clothes – 3.7%.
There is however a great difference between what Romanians would like to receive for Christmas, and what they offer as gifts.
“Thus, the main products they offer as gifts are: clothing items (23%), sweets (16%), cosmetics/personal care products (14%), toys (12%) and symbolic/custom-made products (9%),” said Andrei Canda, managing partner iSense.Solutions.
Romanians will spend an average of RON 415 (under EUR 100) for Christmas gifts this year, those aged between 45 and 54 being more generous – they will allot a budget of some RON 551 (around EUR 123).
The study was conducted online by iSense.Solutions, the data being representative for the urban population aged over 18.
