Study: Only 3 percent of Romanians play slot machines
The average slot machine player in Romania is a 29 year old male, not married, working full time, without children, and with an average monthly income of RON 1,274, found a recent study issued by Romslot, the association of Slot Machine Games operators.
The ratio of Romanians who play slot machines is however small – only 3 percent, which is much lower than the 20 percent playing the lottery every week, and even lower than the 6 percent who choose sports betting. The numbers for weekly participation are even lower – 1 percent for slot machines, 5 percent for lottery, and 3 percent for sports betting. Card games are similarly popular, with an overall 3 percent and a 1 percent weekly attendance rate. International statistics show slot machines players are more frequent in other countries, for example in UK the rate of use is of 13 percent.
The study also found that Romanians like slot machines to socialize, have fun, but also to win.
The study was carried on by Romslot between October and November 2012. Romslot is made of 18 slot machines operators in Romania: Baum, Bet Cafe Arena, Casino Entertainment Center, Clasik Poker, Club King, DGL Pro, Elmat, Eurogames Technologies România, Gama Games, GameWorld, Intertop, Kegyi Games, Maxbet, Progeco Invest, Public Games, Timax, Westgate România, X Gaming.
