Study: Over 70% of Romanians tend to buy brands involved in supporting sports

Over 70 percent of Romanians tend to buy brands that they’ve seen involved in supporting sports, while almost half believe that companies’ involvement in sports should be oriented towards supporting amateurs competitions, according to the research study Sport in Romania - The link between brands, companies and sports, conducted by Quantix Marketing Consulting.

Over half of Romanians practice at least one sports activity per year, while 61 percent practice sports once a month.

Men spend more on sports items, while women spend more on sport-related services, shows the study.

Over 90 percent of Romanians think there is a positive link between practicing sports and health, while 85 percent watch different sports on TV, online, or live.

Football is the sports game watched by 63 percent of the respondents, according to the study, and 90 percent of them watch games played by the national team.

Over 90 percent believe that the Romanian athletes’ international performances help promote a positive image for Romania across the world. Meanwhile, 83 percent think that not enough money is spent on sports from the state budget.

The respondents believe that Romania mainly had outstanding international performances in gymnastics, and Nadia Comaneci continues to be the most admired Romanian athlete.

The research study analyzed Romanians’ perceptions and behaviors related to sports, as well as their perceptions about companies that are associated with sports.
