Survey: Most Romanians agree with mandatory voting

22 July 2014

Most Romanians support the idea of introducing mandatory voting, according to a recent study conducted by INSCOP.

A total of 44.6 percent of Romanians agree with this measure because they believe that if more people would come to vote, things will change for the better. On the other hand, 41.7 percent are against the introduction of compulsory voting because they think that the current political class can’t change things for the better. Over 13 percent say they don’t know or they don’t want to answer this question.

The survey was conducted between July 1 and July 6 on a sample of over 1,000 people, at the request of Adevarul newspaper.

Less than a third of Romanians plan to vote in European Parliament elections this Sunday

First official estimates: Low turnout invalidates Romania’s presidential impeachment referendum
