Survey: Nine in ten Romanians mentally abused by bosses, most workers are overwhelmed and confused about tasks
A shocking 90 percent of Romanian workers say their bosses mentally abuse staff, while many employees feel humiliated at work, according to a recent study.
The survey, by the Club of Social Rights Costel Galca, also revealed Romanian employees feel overworked and confused about their tasks.
Nine out of ten workers agree mental abuse is rife in their office and that three quarters of it is inflicted by bosses.
A fifth of the 1,100 respondents said the abuse is triggered by co-worker conflicts
More than half of the employees said mental abuse at work had lowered their productivity.
After layoffs in recent years, two thirds of remaining employees say they are overburden by tasks.
Many also feel their work has become more stressful, ranking their stress at 3.7 out of a maximum stress score of 5.
One in ten respondents had a panic attack after being criticized by a boss in front of co-workers, while a quarter of the respondents said they felt anxiety in these circumstances.
Around 41 percent of those who were in this situation felt a lack of energy and, for 11 percent, the open criticism triggered drowsiness at work and insomnia at home, according to the survey.
