Survey: One third of Romanians skip breakfast, three quarters believe home made food is healthier
Around a third of the Romanians surveyed in a recent study by Nielsen skip breakfast because they don’t have time or they need to work. Meanwhile, about half of respondents who live in cities believe they neither eat healthy, or unhealthy.
Three quarters of city dwellers believe home cooked food is healthier than ready made meals sold in stores. The recent survey also revealed that about 90 percent of those who buy food choose fresh, unprocessed products, and only 11 percent go for semi-prepared and ready-made food.
At the same time, bio products still have some way to go before convincing more Romanians to buy. Around a third of the respondents believe bio products are healthier than the rest, while about a quarter do not believe this to be true. Another third of the respondents don’t have any opinion about bio products.
The recent survey was carried online by Nielsen Romania in October 2013 on 816 respondents in urban areas.
