Survey: Romania, one of the most corrupt countries in the European Union
Romania is among the most corrupt countries in the European Union, according to Transparency International’s latest Corruption Perceptions Index.
More than two thirds of the 175 countries in the 2014 index scored below 50, on a scale from 0 - perceived to be highly corrupt to 100 - perceived to be very clean. Denmark came out on top this year with a score of 92 while North Korea and Somalia shared last place, scoring just eight, according to Transparency International.
Romania, Italy, Greece and Bulgaria are the most corrupt countries among the European Union member states, scoring just 43 points, according to the index. Romania’s score was similar to the one registered in 2013, but with one point lower than in 2012, when it scored 44 points.
