Swiss police use military drone to catch three Romanian burglars
The Swiss police in the canton of Ticino arrested three Romanian men suspected of burglary, on Saturday night. The three were located with a drone from the Swiss Air Force using an infrared camera. They were caught close to the Italian border, according to Swiss news website thelocal.ch.
The three Romanians, aged 52, 44 and 42 years, are suspected of being involved in various home burglaries in the region, close to the Italian border.
They were caught after a woman saw them and called the police. It took the Swiss authorities just 15 minutes to locate them using the drone.
Swiss police in the Neuchâtel canton have also launched a search for another Romanian, who broke out of a prison on La Chaux-de-Fonds, on Friday night.
The man, aged 40, had been arrested for his alleged involvement in organized gang theft and was waiting to be judged. He is believed to have deactivated the prison's security system and used scaffolding erected for renovations to escape. Police said he is not considered dangerous.
