French group Accor brings five-star hotel brand on tallest hotel in Bucharest

28 March 2019

French group Accor, one of the biggest hospitality groups in the world, will open the first Swissôtel hotel in Romania, in Bucharest. The five-star brand will be put on what is expected to become the tallest hotel in Bucharest.

Niro Investment Group, a business group controlled by Romanian investor Nicolae Dumitru, has started work on the new hotel, which will be located in northern Bucharest, in the Expozitiei area. The group plans to invest EUR 60 million in this project, whose completion is expected in 2021.

Upon completion, the development operated under the Swissôtel brand will feature 225 rooms distributed on 18 floors, restaurants, a pool, a Spa & Sport facility and a designated area of meetings and functions.

“Romania is a quickly developing, very attractive market with huge potential and very good yields. There is a strong domestic demand for hospitality services, also by affluent Romanians, not speaking about international visitors. We feel honored that Niro Investment Group has chosen Swissôtel and Accor for the management of this ambitious hotel project. We’re sure that Swissôtel Bucharest will bring new standards to the Romanian hotel industry,” said Frank Reul, Head of Development at Accor for Eastern Europe.

Located in Expozitiei Boulevard, the hotel is 10 minutes away drive from Otopeni Airport and in close proximity to several corporate and business headquarters, including Romexpo, the biggest event and exposition center in Romania.

The hotel was designed by local firm Arhitect Service and will be built by Austrian group Porr Construct. Beaufort Global has advised Niro Investment Group in signing the management contract.
