Tax on unattended buildings, plots could go up sixfold in Bucharest
The district councils in Bucharest were empowered to increase by up to 500% the tax on the unattended land and buildings located in the city, after the Bucharest General Council approved a draft resolution yesterday.
Bucharest mayor Gabriela Firea said that the unattended land represents a stain on Bucharest’s cheek.
“These taxes could increase by up to 500% as the Fiscal Code provides,” said Firea. The six district councils will vote on the methodology, criteria as well as the related amounts, she added.
Based on the provision of a law from 2015 on the Fiscal Code, the local councils may increase up to 500% the tax on unattended buildings and land located in the city, according to the statement accompanying the draft project from yesterday.
