Estonian car ride app Taxify has cut the tariffs by 20% in Bucharest starting March 1, thus becoming cheaper than its main competitor in the Romanian capital – Uber.

The base fare for a Taxify ride is now RON 1.17 while the fee per km is also RON 1.17. Moreover, the fee per minute is also lower, at RON 0.20.

By comparison, the base fare for the low-cost UberX service in Bucharest is RON 1.30, the fee per km is also RON 1.30, while the tariff per minute is RON 0.22. Meanwhile, most taxis in Bucharest have a tariff of RON 1.39 per km, but there are also taxi companies that use an even higher fee, of around RON 1.70 per km.

Taxify was launched in Bucharest in mid-August last year. The app is available for both iOS and Android systems. Once installed, it can be used both in Bucharest, as well as in any other cities in the world where Taxify is available.
