The Animals, the band famed for 'House of the Rising Sun,' come to Bucharest in May
The legendary British band The Animals, known for songs like "The House of The Rising Sun" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", will be back in Bucharest for a gig on May 10, at the Jukebox Venue club. This will be the band's second concert in Romania, after the first in April last year, according to concert organizers Phoenix Entertainment.
The Animals was set up in 1963 and only two original band members are still part of the line-up: John Steel and Mickey Gallagher. John E. Williamson and Peter Barton will complete the line-up for he Bucharest concert.
The band was known for its frontman Eric Burdon, as initially it was also called Eric Burdon and the Animals. In the mid-60s, the band went to California where they became a successful psychedelic rock act, but disbanded at the end of the decade, only to have brief comebacks in the early 70s. The first line-up was Eric Burdon (vocals), Alan Price (organ and keyboards), Hilton Valentine (guitar), John Steel (drums), and Bryan "Chas" Chandler (bass). Eric Burdon is also currently touring under the name Eric Burdon & The Animals
Tickets for the Bucharest concert, called The Animals and Friends, cost RON 60 (with seating) until the day of the concert, RON 30 standing until May 3, and RON 40 standing from may 2 to concert day, and RON 45 standing and RON 65 seated on the concert day. Tickets can be bought online here.
