The Netherlands appoints new ambassador to Romania

06 July 2015

Stella Ronner-Grubacic will be the Netherlands’ new ambassador to Romania and the Republic of Moldova. She will replace Matthijs van Bonzel, who will take over as ambassador to Spain.

Stella Ronner-Grubacic is currently director of communications in the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in The Hague, reports local Wall-street.ro.

Matthijs van Bonzel will leave Romania in September. “We will miss Romania. The two children will stay here,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

The Dutch diplomat should have started its term in December 2011, but Romania’s then president Traian Basescu offered his accreditation only in May 2012. The delay was probably related to the Netherlands’ refusal to accept Romania in the Schengen area.
