The new US Ambassador to Romania arrives in Bucharest
Hans Klemm, the new US Ambassador to Romania, arrived in Bucharest on Sunday evening, September 20. He will meet President Klaus Iohannis today, September 21, at Cotroceni Palace, to present his accreditation letters. The meeting will take place at 18:00.
Hans Klemm was sworn in as the US Ambassador to Romania last week, on September 16. During his speech, he talked about Romania’s contribution to NATO and its fight against corruption. US Secretary of State John Kerry and Romania’s Ambassador to the United States George Maior attended the ceremony.
Before being appointed US Ambassador to Romania, Hans Klemm was the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Human Resources, and served as Acting General Director of the Foreign Service and Acting Director of Personnel of the Department of State from July 2013 through December 2014.
Mark Gitenstein was the previous US Ambassador to Romania. His mandate ended on December 14, 2012.
