The New York Times features travel article about Bucharest: the city that hasn't lost its soul to mass tourism
The New York Times has recently featured a travel article about Bucharest, seen through the eyes of a traveler who had been to the city in the early 90s and who now finds a changed Bucharest. The article was included in the section Eurofile and was signed by Alexander Lobrano. The Romania capital city is described as a 'delicious strangeness', a city 'that hasn’t been pasteurized by gentrification or lost its soul to mass tourism.'
“It’s an odd but lively mutt of a city — one that’s clearly seen better days but where something is also suddenly stirring,” the author writes. The article includes a couple of travel tips – places to see, where to stay and where to eat. “It’s a better idea to wait and riff on this intriguing city’s exhilarating strangeness once you get home,” the article concludes.
