The profile of bad debtors in Romania
Romanian bad debtors are generally over 40 and have more than RON 7,000 (EUR 1,560) nominal debt, according to Polish debt collection company Kruk. The biggest debt for an individual in Kruk’s portfolio is over RON 2.2 million (EUR 491,000).
Kruk Romania managed 910,000 debt files in Romania totaling EUR 1.67 billion, reports local Economica.net. Individuals accounted for 96% of all files, with a nominal value of EUR 1.43 billion.
According to Kruk, Romanian consumers have changed their mentality over the lat 15 years. At the end of the ’90 a large number of Romanians didn’t pay their debts deliberately and took credit without the intention of paying it back. Nowadays, people who have debt issues understand the need to pay off their debt and want to do this, but often don’t have the financial means to do it, according to Kruk.
