The Saint Ilie's day fair to bring Romanian crafts and goodies to Peasant Museum, Bucharest

The Saint Ilie Fair be on between Friday, July 20 and Sunday, July 22, at the Romanian Peasant Museum (Muzeul Taranului), Bucharest. Around 100 craftsmen and traditional artisans will attend, as well as young people making gift items by hand and antique dealers. All Romania's provinces be represented by crafts, culinary traditions, traditional outfits and blacksmiths, potters, carvers and icon painters.

There will also be plenty regional goodies to eat -  jams, syrups and sweets, honey, cakes, and pies, aromatic herbs, cheese and meat products prepared with traditional recipes, apple juice and wine, gingerbread, kurtos kalacs, pretzels and much more.

Saint Ilie's day has various associated traditions, such as women giving apples as gifts. It is also the day when traditionally beekeepers break open the hives and collect the honey.

Access to the fair via the museum's Monetariei Street entrance, free of charge.
