Three medals for Romania at the Paraclimbing World Cup in Switzerland

27 June 2023

Romania’s national paraclimbing team returns home with three medals from the Paraclimbing World Cup in Villars, Switzerland, thus marking yet another excellent performance this season. So far in 2023, Romanian visually impaired athletes gathered a total of three gold medals, five silver and two bronze at three competitions.

At the Paraclimbing World Cup held in Switzerland on June 23-24, the Romanian team claimed three medals - one gold, one silver and one bronze.

Cosmin Candoi won his third gold medal of the 2023 competition season in the visually impaired B3 category, while Daniel Andrei followed closely behind on the second step of the podium in the same category. Meanwhile, Răzvan Nedu, the captain of the national paraclimbing team, took bronze in the B1 category.

“We are very happy with the results because this competition was a test before the World Championship that will take place in August. The Villars World Cup showed us where we are and what we still have to improve,” said Nedu.

The Climb Again Association, the coordinator of the Romanian paraclimbing team, is a non-governmental organization affiliated with the Romanian Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (FRAE), founded and led by Claudiu Miu, former Balkan climbing champion. Since 2014, it has been organizing free sessions of climbing therapy, physical therapy and psychological counselling for children and young people with disabilities.
