Three Romanian movies have joined the lineup of this year’s edition of Vienna International Film Festival (Viennale), Austria’s most important international film event, which is currently ongoing in Vienna.

Scarred Hearts / Inimi cicatrizate, the fourth feature film of Romanian director Radu Jude will be screened at Metro Kino on October 29. The film won the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland this summer.

Cristi Puiu’s Sieranevada, Romania’s nomination for the 2017 Oscars, will also be screened on October 29 at Gartenbaukino, but also on October 31 at Metro Kino. The movie recently won the Gold Hugo for Best Film, and the Silver Hugo Best Director awards at the 52nd Chicago International Film Festival.

Graduation / Bacalaureat, the latest film of Cristian Mungiu, which also brought him the Best Director award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, will be screened at Stadtkino im Künstlerhaus on October 31, and at Gartenbaukino on November 1. Graduation also won top prizes at the Chicago Film Festival, as well as the Hamburg Critic Award earlier this month.
