Three Romanian soldiers injured by car bomb explosion in Afghanistan

Three Romanian soldiers taking part in the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan were slightly injured by a car bomb explosion, on Sunday morning, August 20.

Lieutenant Adrian Ciprian Iriciuc, Corporal 3rd class Sergiu Andrei Lineschi, and Corporal 3rd class Ion Ichim were executing a patrol mission in the area of responsibility, about 8 km north of the military base in Kandahar, when the attack happened, according to a statement of the Romanian Ministry of Defense.

The soldiers were transported at the hospital within the Kandahar military base.

Later that day, Corporal Ion Ichim was discharged from the hospital and returned to his unit. The other two soldiers were in a stable condition.

The three Romanian soldiers are part of the 811th Infantry Force Protection Battalion “Transylvanian Dragons”.
