A recent three way international law firm merger will have impact on the Romanian market as well. The law firms Salans, SNR Denton and Canada’s Fraser Milner Casgrain (FMC) approved the merger, and the new firm will be known as Dentons. The Romanian subsidiary of Salans will also re-brand as Dentons in the first quarter of 2013. In Bucharest, the law firm has a team of 30 lawyers, coordinated by Anda Todor.

Dentons will end up having 2,500 lawyers and professionals in 79 locations and 52 countries across Africa, Asia Pacific, Canada, Europe and Central Asia, the Middle East, the UK and the US. “It will be the seventh largest law firm in the world, measured by number of lawyers and professionals,” according to its statement.

In Romania, there is no overlap of offices, as SNR Denton and Fraser Milner Casgrain are not present locally. Salans and SNR Denton have several duplicate offices in Almaty, Brussels, London, Moscow and Paris. Salans' UK arm is expected to be absorbed into SNR Denton's London office, and the same will happen in New York.
