Bucharest’s two airports saw a record number of 10.99 million passengers and 120,700 aircraft landings and takeoffs last year, according to a press release of the Bucharest Airport National Company.

The traffic on the Baneasa airport was insignificant, as the airport’s activity has been massively reduced, whereas the Henri Coanda (Otopeni) airport recorded 10.98 million passengers last year and 108,200 landings and takeoffs. The traffic rose by 18.3% compared to 2015. The evolution of Bucharest’s airports exceeded the general trend recorded at EU level.

In 2016, 85% of the passengers of the Henri Coanda airport went to or came from airports in the EU. Some 37 airline operated flights from Bucharest’s airports. They transported passengers to 92 destinations.
