Former Romanian president Traian Basescu runs in the European elections

Former president Traian Basescu opens the People's Movement Party – PMP’s list of candidates for this year’s elections for the European Parliament, the party announced.

Basescu is the honorary president of opposition party PMP. The party’s president, Eugen Tomac, is second on the list, followed by Ioana Constantin, deputy secretary general of PMP.

The party’s list is made up of a total of 43 candidates, all of them members of PMP.

The ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD) is expected to win most seats in the European Parliament following the European elections that will be organized in Romania on May 26, followed by the main opposition party PNL.
