Transelectrica to invest EUR 250 mln to connect wind farms to national power grid
State-owned energy transport company Transelectrica will invest around EUR 250 million in the next five to six years in Dobrogea to build eight transformation power stations and the electrical lines which will connect wind farms to the national power grid, a total capacity of 4,000 MW. These investments will be linked to the investments in wind mill projects, said Razvan Purdila, head of Transelectrica's corporate strategy division. There are currently power grid connection contracts for almost 3,600 MW wind farms in the area.
Transelectrica, owned by the Romanian Economy Minister, runs the country's electricity transmission system.
