Romanian state-owned gas transporter gets EUR 46 mln grant to develop gas network

Romanian state-controlled gas transporter Transgaz Medias will get a EUR 46 million grant from the European Union, through the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme to develop the gas network in Romania’s North-East region.
“Developing the national gas transport system in North-Eastern Romania, a project with a total value of EUR 175 million, is useful and relevant for Romania’s general energy security and for developing the interconnection with the Republic of Moldova,” said Alexandru Macoveiciuc, a spokesman of the Economy Ministry, local Agerpres reported.
He also said that Eurotransgaz, a subsidiary of Transgaz, will launch the public tender for building the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipe, a EUR 76 million project, 35% financed from the company’s own funds. The pipeline should be finalized in 2019.
