19 August 2020

Romania’s transport minister Lucian Bode hopes to start work on another 60 kilometers of highways, express roads and modern ring roads by the end of this year.

The Transport Ministry will also sign new contracts for 250 kilometers of highways and express roads in the same period, Bode said on Tuesday, August 18, Agerpres reported.

He added that in the last nine months, since the Liberals came to power, the Transport Ministry kicked off work for 100 kilometers of highways, express roads and ring roads.

Transport minister Lucian Bode and prime minister Ludovic Orban went on Tuesday to open the construction site for the first segment of the new Bucharest ring highway, between Vidra and Bragadiru.

Bucharest’s ring highway is a vital project for Bucharest, said PM Ludovic Orban. The project requires an investment of over EUR 1 billion, with most of the money coming from the European Union.
