The 11th edition of the Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF), in Cluj-Napoca between June 1-10 and in Sibiu between June 13-17, will feature a new program whereby 10 young Romanian actors get help promoting themselves.

Starting with this year 10 actors that have made an impression in theaters across the country will be presented to the professionals and the public at TIFF to give them a leg up into film.

“There are so many talented actors but few have appeared in movies. Film directors don’t really go to theaters and even the Bucharest casting directors overlook the theaters, especially those outside the capital. What chance do a young and dedicated actors from Iasi, Oradea, Braila have to play in movies? Who will discover them?” says Tudor Giurgiu, the festival president and project founder.

Marius Manole, one of the most acclaimed young Romanian actors said “Some people are made for the film and some are made for the theater, no one has to get upset and certainly nobody should take it as a failure in life….”

Tudor Giurgiu and a team of critics, directors and writers will choose the 10 actors for the project, who will get presentation materials at TIFF in 2012 such as brochures, photos taken in a professional studio and screen-tests. Between June 7 and 10, they will participate in workshops will be presented to the public, journalists and directors, Romanian and foreign producers, as well as casting directors and agents.
