Romanian village to host traditional sewing center
An IA Academy, dedicated to the traditional Romanian blouse ia, is planned in the Tulgheș commune of Harghita county, in North-Eastern Romania, Agerpres reported.
The role of the academy, which will be a traditional sewing center, is to preserve local traditions. The center will host workshops where anyone can learn how to sew or wave from the old ladies of the village.
“We will manufacture new ia blouses, with authentic, old models. The Tulgheș ia will be registered as an official trademark and we hope that Tulgheș will soon become a creation and learning center for all those in Harghita wishing to re-learn how to be Romanians,” said resident Cristina Timariu, who is credited with the center’s idea.
The project is supported by the online community La Blouse Roumaine initiator Diana Andreea Tănăsescu, who suggested establishing the first Ia museum in the country in Tulgheș.
