Turkey and Egypt attract Romanian tourists, less concerned with safety than their Western peers

04 April 2017

After a slight drop in the past years, Romanian tourists are again interested in destinations in Turkey and Egypt, as they value the price offers and are less concerned with safety than Western tourists, according to an analysis by Profit.ro.

Local tourism agencies expect more than 100,000 Romanian tourists to spend their holidays in Antalya, as prices at some hotels dropped by as much as 50%. “A Romanian can now choose an all-inclusive [package] at the beginning of May or June, at a five-star hotel, with charter flight, for EUR 500. Four years ago the cheapest packages were EUR 800 – EUR 850,” according to Hamid Gazez of Rezeda Tours, quoted by Profit.ro.

Egypt is another destination that is again offered by local tourism agencies, and charter flights are available to the country starting this year. Christian Tour, one of the largest tourism agencies in the country, is offering charters to the transcontinental country starting August 1, following increasing demand from Romanian tourists, attracted by the low costs of a holiday there, Profit.ro reports. The cost of a one-week holiday in Egypt with this agency, covering accommodation, breakfast, and plane tickets, is below EUR 500, and on par with tariffs at the Romanian seaside.
