The number of subscribers to TV services reached 6.9 million at the end of 2014, up 6.15% year-on-year, according to Romania’s communications authority ANCOM.

Some 4.38 million Romanians watch TV programs via cable TV services, up 6.3% over 2013, whereas 2.46 million subscribers watch them via DTH satellite networks, up 4.7% compared to 2013. The number of subscribers who watch these program via IP technology increased by 22.1% to 68,000.

Over half – 60% - of all subscribers live in urban areas, and 80% of them have cable subscriptions. In rural areas, most subscribers, 61%, watch TV program via DTH satellite networks.

Overall, the number of cable subscriptions in digital format increased by 9% compared to 2013, to 4.23 million.
