The Romanian Government decided, during the meeting held on Wednesday (June 12), to appoint Claudiu Lucaci (in picture) - the public television TVR News director - as Consul General of Romania in New York. The decision is to be published in the Official Gazette.

The proposal came from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Journalist since 1990, Claudiu Lucaci joined TVR’s news team four years later, in 1994. Between 2001 and 2003, Lucaci was spokesman for the Romanian Government, while in 2004 he was named General Consul of Romania to Los Angeles. Claudiu Lucaci speaks English and French fluently. His CV here.
