Almost two out of five Romanians drink beer while on vacation, this drink ranking first among beverages consumed on holiday, according to a GfK study conducted at the request of Romania’s Brewers Association, cited by local Wall-street.ro

Moreover, over 97 percent of the beer consumed by Romanians is produced locally.

The beer consumption dropped by some 10 percent last year, reaching a volume of 16.3 million hectoliters. The consumption per capita reached 81 liters, similar to the one in 2005-2006, when Romanians consumed some 84 liters per inhabitant.

Some of the most important beer producers on the local market are Bergenbier, Heineken, United Romanian Breweries Bereprod and Ursus Breweries.
