Two nominations for Romania’s next EU Commissioner
Dacian Ciolos, Romania’s current EU Commissioner, and Romanian MEP Corina Cretu, are Romania’s proposals for the next EU Commissioner seat, according to market sources. Nominations were sent end of July.
Ciolos has been Romania’s EU Commissioner for Agriculture since 2010. After the EU Parliament elections in spring, the EU Commission structure will also change, with each country due to nominate a new commissioner.
Romania’s previous commissioner, from 2007 when it entered the EU, to 2010, was Leonard Orban, who was tasked with the multilinguism portfolio.
