Two places down for Romania in gender gap report

29 October 2014

Romania has lost two places in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report, ranking 72nd out of a total of 142 countries. In 2013, Romania was number 70 in the ranking.

Romania ranks 37th in the world when it comes to gender gap in health care, but ranks 91st when it comes to political empowerment, because of the small number of women on ministerial positions or in the Parliament.

In the overall ranking, Romania is surpassed by Moldova (number 25), Serbia (54) or Ukraine (56), but ranks better than Slovakia (90), Greece (91), Hungary (93), the Czech Republic (96) or Japan (104).
