Two Wizz Air routes from Bucharest attract 1 million passengers

Since the beginning of its operations in Romania, low cost airline Wizz Air has carried one million passengers on the Bucharest - Rome and Bucharest - London routes, according to the company. London Luton and Rome Ciampino are two of the most popular routes operated by Wizz Air from Romania, with prices starting from RON 129 (some EUR 29).

Wizz Air is the largest low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe and operates a fleet of 44 Airbus A320 aircraft from 17 bases with 280 routes linking 94 destinations in 34 countries. Wizz Air has 1,600 employees and had some 13.5 million passengers in the first quarter of 2013.

According to the National Bucharest Airports Company, Bucharest’s Henri Coanda and Baneasa airports registered a total of 7.45 million passengers in 2012, an increase of 1.3 percent on the previous year. In 2012, 84 percent of the passengers at the Otopeni airport were flying to destinations within the European Union and 68 percent went to airports in the Schengen area.
