Uber launches Scheduled Rides service in Romania, continues expansion

29 September 2016

The popular car ride app Uber has launched its Scheduled Rides service in Romania after receiving many requests for this option from local users. The service will also change the pricing strategy and expand to new cities.

The scheduled rides option allows Uber users to request a ride up to 30 days in advance and make sure they will have a car available when they need it.

The option is useful when users have scheduled events that they don’t want to miss, such as flights, interviews, and business meetings.

The option is available for both the UberX and UberSELECT services. The user only has to set the pickup date and hour, address, and destination. The user will get two reminders 24 hours, respectively 30 minutes before the scheduled ride. Users can cancel the ride at any time before the driver leaves for the pickup address.

The service is available in most of Bucharest starting September 28. However, it is not yet available in Otopeni, Pipera, Voluntari, and 1 Decembrie, but Uber promises it will become available in these areas and in Cluj-Napoca in the following months.

Uber also plans to implement new changes in terms of pricing. It will implement a guaranteed price scheme that will allow clients to know exactly how much they have to pay from one point to another, said to Nicoleta Schroeder, who runs Uber’s business in Romania, in a interview with local Wall-Street.ro. She also says that Uber plans to expand its service to new cities in Romania, with Timisoara and Brasov high on the list of priorities.
