Uber offers free snow removal service in Bucharest this Thursday

10 January 2017

Following the heavy snowfall last week and the freezing temperatures these days, Uber has decided to step in and offer help to the Bucharesters who still have some snow to remove from their parking spaces, the sidewalks, and other places covered in snow.

Thus, on Thursday, Bucharesters can call an Uber team to help them with the snow removal as a new blizzard is expected to hit the capital these days. The service, called UberSNOW, will only be available on Thursday, January 12, between 11:00 and 14:00, and will be free of charge. Those who call the Uber team will also have to remove the snow alongside them.

Moreover, the people who want to join the initiative and become volunteers can do so by registering online here.

“The UberSNOW teams will be made of Uber employees, passengers, drivers, journalists, public figures, and volunteers who will work together so that you can move smoothly in a more accessible city,” reads the company statement.

To benefit from this service, the Uber users will have to open the app, select UberSNOW and order a car. A team will arrive at the destination in a few minutes, equipped with special shovels and an Uber kit to protect those who participate in the activity from the cold.

Moreover, those who haven’t used Uber so far will benefit from a free trip, in the limit of RON 25, with the promotional code “deszapezire”.

Uber is currently available in four Romanian cities, namely Bucharest, Brasov, Cluj, and Timisoara. Moreover, in December last year, the company launched the UberSKI service in Brasov mountain resort. The service offers cars equipped with ski equipment carriers that can transport up to two pairs of skis or two snowboards, and is available until March 31.
