UK’s Business Secretary Vince Cable to visit Romania this week
UK’s Business Secretary Vince Cable (in picture) will visit Romania this week, as a follow-up to Romanian President Traian Basescu’s visit to London in June when he agreed with David Cameron to strengthen commercial ties, and to join forces in Brussels to promote EU growth, according to the UK Ambassador to Romania, Martin Harris.
Vince Cable will bring the UK’s perspective on Romania’s economy and will also be looking at the investment opportunities in Romania for British companies. “The UK has a lot to offer Romania, and both countries – our politicians, diplomats, scientists and our businessmen - need to work together to respond to the crisis facing Europe today’, writes Martin Harris. Vince Cable was born in 1943. He joined the Liberal Democrat Shadow Cabinet in October 1999 as spokesman on Trade and Industry after a spell as a junior Treasury spokesman. Until he was appointed to the Coalition Government as Business Secretary in May 2010, he had been the Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor from November 2003 and from March 2006 Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats.
