Unemployment rate drops by 0.2pp in Romania in June
The unemployment rate in Romania dropped by 0.2 percentage points (pp) in June.
About 568,000 Romanians had no jobs last month, the lowest monthly level in the past two years, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS). By comparison, Romania had 617,000 unemployed in June 2015.
The unemployment rate among men reached 7.3% compared to an unemployment rate of 5.3% among women.
Among adults aged 25-74, the percentage of people without jobs reached 5.4%, or 6.2% among men and 4.2% among women. Also, the number of unemployed aged 25-74 represented 78.3% of the total number of Romanians without jobs in June.
The jobless rate for the young population (15-24) was 21% in March this year, according to the latest available data.
