Romania's unemployment rate reaches 6.6% in May
Romania’s unemployment rate amounted to 6.6% in May this year, up 0.2 percentage points compared to the previous month, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The unemployment rate was higher for men, at 7.3%, and stood at 5.6% for women.
The number of unemployed aged 15-74 totaled 581,000 in May, up from 573,000 in April. The number dropped compared to May 2015, when 622,000 Romanians were unemployed.
For adult people aged 25-74 the unemployment rate reached 5.5% in May. In the case of women, the rate reached 4.5%, whereas the unemployment rate among men totaled 6.3%.
The number of unemployed aged 25-74 represented 78.3% of all total number of unemployed people in May 2016.
