The unemployment rate dropped by 0.1 percentage points in August compared to the previous month, reaching 6%, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).

About 529,000 Romanians aged 15-74 were unemployed in August. Last year in August, some 630,000 people were officially unemployed in Romania.

The unemployment rate among men reached 6.8% whereas the unemployment rate among women was 4.9%.

For people aged 25-74, the unemployment rate amounted to 5% in August, namely 5.8% among men and 4% among women.
