Unions in Romania want the minimum wage to reach RON 1,450 next year
Unions in Romania have come up with several scenarios for the discussions in the National Tripartite Council on the minimum wage for next year.
Their proposals range between RON 1,350 (EUR 299) and RON 1,450 (EUR 321.3).
The employers' unions will talk with the Government about the minimum wage next week. The decision will most probably be made after the parliamentary elections, said Bogdan Hossu, president of the National Union Confederation “Cartel Alfa," reports local Agerpres.
The current minimum wage amounts to RON 1,250 (EUR 227). This level started applying on May 1, 2016. Previously, the minimum gross wage was RON 1050.
Hossu also said that the Government believes that the minimum salary should reach RON 1,625 (EUR 360) by 2022 and then it should freeze.
