Urban photography workshop running in Bucharest in May
Photographer Davin Ellicson is running a photography course in Bucharest during May. Romania's capital offers unique opportunities for urban photography, according to Ellicson. The workshop is open to all - amateurs and professionals - and aims to improve spontaneous shooting skills via Bucharest's urban landscapes. The course will also cover editing and include a tutorial on Adobe Lightroom software, which is recommended by the photographer.
The workshop is running on May 11 and 12 at Davin Ellicson's studio in Bucharest. The course costs EUR 200 and is limited to just six students. Participants must bring their own camera and laptop with photo editing software.
After finishing college Davin Ellicson lived for a year with subsistence farmers in a village in the Carpathian mountains and the photographs he took became his first major project Peasants, which will published as a book in 2014. Davin works between New York City and Bucharest and in 2011, he began his Paradox Romania project, “a wide-ranging road trip around Romania looking at the country's post-communist evolution.”
Davin's work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, Der Spiegel, L'Espresso, ART, OneWorld, AFAR and The Chronicle of Higher Education. He regularly photographs and produces multimedia for the NGO's Ovidiu Rom, IREX (International Research and Exchanges Board) and Not For Sale in Romania.
