Romania, together with other five states in Eastern Europe, will host US heavy military equipment, said US Secretary of Defense Ash Carter.

It is not clear yet what type of equipment Romania will host, but the US plans to bring 250 tanks, Bradley armored vehicles and self-propelled artillery units to the region, according to a US military document quoted by Reuters.

Romania’s Parliament unanimously approved President Klaus Iohannis’ request to set up a NATO unit in Romania.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently reacted to US’ announced intention to bring heavy military gear to Russia’s border by saying that Russia will increase its nuclear arsenal. Russia displayed its military power last week in a large military expo near Moscow.
