US dollar hits new record against Romanian currency
The US dollar on Wednesday, March 11, hit a new record against the Romanian currency leu, of over RON 4.2, and surpassed the Swiss Franc.
The dollar exchange rate increased yesterday by RON 0.078 to RON 4.2059/USD, the sixth consecutive growth and exceeded the Swiss Franc, as the US currency appreciated on foreign markets.
The Romanian currency weakened against other important currencies too. A euro values RON 4.44, whereas a franc is worth RON 4.17.
The last time the dollar exceeded the Swiss franc was on January 14, the last day before the Bank of Switzerland eliminated the CHF 1.2/ EUR ceiling.
