Seven US Navy marines based in Romania were questioned on Sunday, April 1, after a bar altercation, and the police decided to fine five of them.

The sailors apparently left a night club in the Southern Romania city of Craiova without paying their tab and entered a conflict with the policemen called to calm the tense situation, local Mediafax reported. The police decided to hold them for questioning and then fined five of them, namely three officers and two soldiers. The marines were collectively fined RON 3,300 (USD 874), according to a police spokesperson.

The sailors are based at the missile defense base in the Southern Romania town of Deveselu.
