US Vice Admiral says no delay for the missile shield in Deveselu, Romania
Vice Admiral James D. Syring, director of the US Missile Defense Agency, said that no delay is being registered in making the anti-missile shield at Deveselu operational. He added that the shield has all necessary sources of financing, according to Mediafax.
Romanian Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs Bogdan Aurescu had a meeting with Vice Admiral James D. Syring on Wednesday. The developments of the US missile defense system were analysed during the talks.
In May this year, during a visit to Romania, American Vice President Joe Biden also said things were “on track to open the missile defense site at Deveselu” in the country’s southern region of Oltenia. He acknowledged Romania’s commitment to the ballistic missile defense, which is being built at the Romanian airbase by the US.
