US warship docks in Constanta, after joint exercises with Romanian Navy
US warship the Fort McHenry has docked in Romanian port Constanta as part of the schedule of cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries. Before arriving in Constanta, the US ship and crew had been on joint exercises with the Romanian Navy. The ship participated in the combined amphibious warfare exercise 'Summer Storm' with the Romanian military.
During the Fort McHenry's stay the crew will meet Romanian Military leaders and representatives of the local government. Sporting events are also planned at the Romanian Naval Academy in Constanta.
The USS Fort McHenry is designed to carry a range of landing crafts and amphibious vehicles. The US military describes it as a tool to “spearhead an amphibious assault.” The ship also carries multiple helicopters.
